Joliet, Ill. - Lewis University senior guard
Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) was nearly unstoppable against St. Francis (Ill.), as the Buffalo Grove, Ill., native posted a career-high 27 points on 9-for-10 shooting, including a 6-for-7 performance from long range, to push the visiting Flyers to the 80-66 non-conference win over the Fighting Saints at the Patrick Sullivan Center on Wednesday (Dec. 7) night.
The nine baskets and six three-pointers both equal career-bests for McClellan.
"Chris played great tonight," Lewis head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost said. "He hit some shots and he was really feeling it.
"He's playing with a lot of confidence right now."
With the win, Lewis improves to 5-2 on the season, while the Fighting Saints are now 6-3.
As a team, Lewis shot a season-high 56.6% (30-for-53) from the field. Led by McClellan's three-point shooting, the Flyers shot 50.0% (7-for-14) from long range.
"It was one of those games where I thought we were in control from the outset," Trost said. "St. Francis is a good team and it's always good to get a win on the road."

Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) and senior forward
Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) each scored 10 points in the win.
USF's Bruce Watson led the Fighting Saints with 15 points, followed by 14 points from Andrew Lerg and 10 points from Chris Miller.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 10) night, as the Flyers welcome Olivet Nazarene to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference showdown.
