DeKALB, Ill. - In a battle of two Lewis Flyers in the red bracket singles final at the NIU Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon, sophomore
Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary, Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) came out on top over classmate
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary, Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium), 6-2, 2-6, (8) at the Huskie Tennis Courts on the campus of Northern Illinois University.
The Kranczicki/Lanstiak combo took second place in the Victor doubles bracket dropping an 8-3 match to Eastern Illinois' Janelle Prisner and Merrit Whitley. In a consolation doubles match, Kranczicki and Lanstiak claimed an 8-0 win over Northern Illinois' Sara McLaughlin and Emily Rogers.
In other singles play, senior
Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill., O'Fallon) earned a second place finish in the black bracket falling 7-6, 6-0 to Eastern's Amanda Dibbs in the finals.
The Flyers return to the court on Wednesday (Sept. 14) as they head to Chicago to take on Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
