Lewis' Kranczicki And Lanstiak Win Doubles Draw At ITA Regional

Duo will play singles final on Tuesday at Lewis

INDIANPOLIS, Ind.
- The Lewis women's tennis team was well represented in the finals of both the singles and doubles final at ITA Midwest Regional on Sunday (Sept. 18) as sophomores Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary, Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) and Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary, Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) won the doubles final and will face each other in the singles final on Tuesday.

The duo defeated Ohio Dominican's Sofia Espana-Perez and Aline Mariano, 8-2 to claim the doubles title. They will now advance to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships October 13-16 in Mobile, Ala. The Championships are comprised of the eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges.

No. 1 seed Kranczicki advanced to the singles final with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Wayne State's Kristina Goranskaya while No. 6 seed Lanstiak earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Northwood's Kate Zhukoven in her semifinal matchup. They will face off in the finals match to be played on Tuesday at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex. The winner will represent the Midwest Regional in Mobile in October.

After Tuesday the Flyers are back in action on Saturday (Sept. 24) as they host Illinois Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and St. Francis (Ill.) at 2 p.m.
