Flyer Athletics Fund Raises Nearly $500,000 in 2017-18

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – It was another record breaking year for the Flyer Athletics Fund as the Lewis University Athletics Department raised $493,834.91 during the past school year which was an increase of more than 50 percent from 2016-17.

The athletic department received contributions from 1,126 donors. These figures do not include corporate partnerships or ticket revenues. Of that total, $175,000 is for proposed future athletic facility enhancements.

"We are beyond grateful for the continuous support of so many who together lend their financial support to Lewis Athletics," Lewis Associate Athletics Director / Director of External Relations Brian Sisson said. "Everyone who gave plays a huge role in helping our incredible student-athletes on the academic and athletic side of their experience at Lewis."

Last year, Lewis implemented online ticketing to all ticketed sports including men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's Soccer.  This helped accomplish increased customer service and a new source of revenue for the department.

Lewis also announced in May that it signed an exclusive agreement with Learfield Licensing Partners, a trademark management company specializing in collegiate licensing and branding, to represent the University and its licensing program.

The Lewis Athletics Department hosted its second annual Flyer Red Dinner fundraising event at the Drury Lane Theater and Conference Center on Thursday, March 15, which included the Flyer Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

Lewis also held its 38th annual Flyer Athletics Fund Golf Tournament on June 8th at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club.

The Flyer Athletics Fund assisted men's volleyball first ever foreign trip taking place July 29th - August 8th, 2018 as well as men's basketball preseason trip to Toronto, Canada Aug. 6-11, 2018. The women's basketball team will be fundraising for an overseas trip to France all year long as they will be embarking May 2019.

"Again, we would like to give a huge thanks to Lewis Vice President for University Advancement Luigi Amendola and his staff for always collaborating and working together with athletics to help make this support possible," Sisson said.

The 39th annual Flyer Athletics Fund Golf Outing will take place on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club.

The Flyer Athletics Fund is Lewis' annual fundraising arm in support of our Athletics Department.
