Romeoville, Ill. - Team USA has announced that former Lewis University All-American and National Champion Isaac Jean-Paul (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) has been selected to participate in the 2017 World Para Athletics Championship in London from July 14-23.

Jean-Paul will compete in the high jump following his world record of 2.10 meters at the US Paralympics Track & Field National Championships in Los Angeles.

Jean-Paul competes as a F13 athlete, as someone who has a visual impairment, because he has been diagnosed with macular degeneration in both eyes.

"I am very proud of the man Isaac has become," Lewis head men's track and field coach Dana Schwarting said. "He will represent the United States very well.

"It was a pleasure to coach him everyday."

The Gurnee, Ill., native was a five-time All-American for Lewis in the high jump from 2014-16, including a national championship at the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
