ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University women's volleyball team evened its record in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan Friday night.
The Flyers (10-6, 3-3 GLVC) have won three straight matches and will host perennial conference power Northern Kentucky Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
Senior middle hitter Rory Harrison led Lewis' 30-27, 30-20, 30-9 victory. Harrison posted a season-high 15 kills on just 25 attempts and had six blocks, including three solo blocks.
Sophomore Theresa Nugent complemented Harrison on the outside with 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. She added two blocks, three digs and an ace serve.
Also producing for the Flyers were freshman Jenna Sayers (nine kills, three blocks), junior Abby Hodge (33 assists) and senior Maggie Haen (13 digs).
With the team scuffling a bit in the opening game, Hodge was inserted into the lineup at setter and helped Lewis close out the game and coast to victories in the ensuing two games.
KWC (0-13, 0-5 GLVC) was led by Erin Krodel's eight kills. The defeat was the Panthers' 35th straight GLVC loss and their 81st in their last 82 conference contests.
