The Lewis University women's volleyball team secured a tie for sixth place in the overall Great Lakes Valley Conference standings with a three-game sweep of Missouri-St. Louis.
The Flyers (16-11, 8-7 GLVC) finish the regular season tied with Wisconsin-Parkside, but will be the No. 7 seed in the GLVC tournament since UWP holds the tiebreaker over Lewis.
Lewis disposed of UMSL (8-14, 5-9 GLVC), who will be the No. 8 seed in the GLVC tournament, 30-20, 30-16 and 30-27. The match had no bearing on the teams' standings in the tournament. Both schools were locked into their seeds entering the match.
Playing in her final match at Neil Carey Arena, senior Katie Gilman posted 23 kills, 10 digs and hit .512. Sarah McKinney chipped in with nine kills and 11 digs.
Defensively, Maggie Haen won the battle of two of the better liberos in the league. Haen tallied 16 digs compared to UMSL's Daria Sak's nine digs.
Lewis will play SIU Edwardsville in its first-round GLVC tournament match. The meeting will be the second time in a week the teams have faced each other; SIUE beat Lewis 3-1 Nov. 7.
