LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, sophomore Amy Yusko laced a two-run double into left field that helped the Lewis softball team complete a doubleheader sweep of conference foe Bellarmine.

Yusko's double highlighted a five-hit, three RBI performance on the day. She also helped the Flyers (14-8, 2-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) even their record in conference play.

A.J. Lagerhausen (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) (2-0) earned victories in both ends of the doubleheader. She won game 1 8-4 and pitched three scoreless innings of relief in game 2 to pick up the 3-2 win. A junior transfer, the wins were the first of her Lewis career.

The Flyers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in game 1 before Bellarmine closed the gap to 3-2 in the fourth inning. A four-run burst in the fifth inning gave Lewis some added breathing room. Yusko started the rally with a double and was followed by a single from Kalynn Russell. Stacy Davis brought in the first run on a suicide squeeze and Robin Martz capped the rally with a bases loaded double that scored three runs.

Lewis added a final insurance run on an RBI single from Martz in the seventh inning.

Bellarmine cracked the scoreboard first in game 2 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Lewis responded with a single run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh. In the sixth, Yusko singled with one out and advanced to second after a single by Russell. Beth Shelus pinch ran for Yusko and played a critical role in the Flyers' first run. Kristy Vanek doubled down the left field line and Shelus came racing around third as the relay throw came into the plate. The ball beat Shelus home, but the freshman barreled over the catcher to jar the ball loose.

For the day, Martz went 4-for-7 with four RBI and reached base seven times in nine at bats. Yusko finished 5-for-8 with three RBI. In the circle, Lagerhausen combined to pitch 7 1/3 innings striking out four and held the Knights to seven hits.
