PENSACOLA, Fla.--The Lewis University women's volleyball team completed an undefeated run through the Comfort Inn-Vitational hosted by West Florida with a sweep of West Alabama Saturday afternoon.
Lewis (4-0) bested West Alabama (0-4) 30-22, 30-22, 30-25 to post a perfect record on its opening weekend of play.
For the fourth straight match, sophomores Theresa Nugent (Oak Lawn, Ill./Queen of Peace) and Sarah McKinney (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) led the Lewis attack. Nugent recorded a team-high 16 kills, marking the third time in four matches that she paced the Flyer offense. She hit .308 and added eight digs in the victory as well.
McKinney, a lefty opposite, punched down 10 kills and tallied eight digs in three games.
Freshman outside hitter Jessica Lockhart (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) contributed nine kills and six digs, while junior setter Rochelle Ruen (Hope, Idaho/Sandpoint H.S.) passed out 22 assists and notched seven kills.

Lewis returns home and will host its annual Labor Day weekend tournament, the Flyer Festival, Sept. 3-4.
