Pumas Defeat Flyers

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--Seeking its first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory of the season, the Lewis University women's soccer team battled through a tough first half before surrendering three second-half goals and losing to Saint Joseph's.

The Flyers (2-7-0, 0-3-0 GLVC) dropped their sixth straight decision with a 4-0 loss to the Pumas (1-4-4, 1-1-1 GLVC).

Saint Joseph's Britney Cox scored the eventual game-winner at 8:01 of the first half. SJC added its second goal early in the second half and then picked up a pair of insurance goals later in the game. Nicole Nowaczyk assisted on three of the Pumas' four goals.

The Flyers had their chances in the second half as they fired 10 shots, including four on goal, but were unable to crack the scoring column. For the game, Lewis amassed 17 shots and four corner kicks.

Lewis will return to action Sunday, Sept. 26 when it hosts Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m.
