Sept. 5, 2004

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University women's soccer team won its first game of the 2004 season with a 1-0 victory over Davis & Elkins (W. Va.).

Senior midfielder Caroline Kenny (Leixlip, Ireland/) tallied the game's only goal with less than 15 minutes remaining in the first half (30:29). Sophomore Kim Jensen (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) was credited with the assist as Kenny connected from just outside of the goal box on Jensen's crossing pass.

Lewis fired eight shots compared to D&E's six and also earned a 7-3 corner kick advantage.

Flyer goalkeeper Courtney Hutt (Belvidere, Ill./Boylan) had three saves as she her sixth career shutout.

The victory moves Lewis' record to 1-2, while Davis & Elkins falls to 0-4. The Flyers will play their first home match of the season in a matchup with cross-town rival St. Francis. The teams will meet in Romeoville on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.
