Box Score

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Anthony Marsico and Cathal Brady lit a fire under the Lewis University men's soccer team during the final 30 minutes of Friday's Great Lakes Valley Conference game against Kentucky Wesleyan, and when the smoke cleared, the Flyers owned a 3-0 triumph over the host Panthers.

The game was scoreless for almost 60 minutes before Marsico, with an assist from Brady, found the back of the net at the 59:37 mark to give Lewis (9-7, 7-5 GLVC) a 1-0 edge.

Brady scored his team-leading ninth goal of the year unassisted at 72:53 for a 2-0 Flyer lead. Marsico, with Brady assisting again, tallied his fifth goal of the season at 75:01 to finish the scoring and secure the Flyers' third consecutive victory.

Lewis dominated the second half statistics, outshooting the Panthers (1-17, 0-12 GLVC) 11-2 and earning a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. The final numbers showed the Flyers leading 14-6 in total shots, 6-3 in shots on goal and 5-2 in corners.

Goalkeeper Brian Byrne went the distance for Lewis, which plays its final GLVC regular-season game of the year Sunday at Southern Indiana. A non-conference contest against Upper Iowa at home follows on Oct. 26, and the GLVC Championship tournament begins Oct. 30.
