All-Tournament Team
ROMEOVILLE, Ill.-The Lewis University men's volleyball team fell to the top-ranked NAIA team in the nation in straight sets at the Lewis Invitational.
Lewis (4-5) fell to California Baptist 26-30, 22-30, 28-30. The Flyers had three players with at least 10 kills, but the Lancers (7-3) hit .367 compared to Lewis' .299 to earn the win.
Sophomore Jared Dayton tallied a team-high 14 kills and hit .333. Senior middle hitter Greg Pochopien posted 10 kills and did not have a hitting error in 15 attempts to record a season-best .667 hitting percentage.
Senior Jeff Soler registered 12 kills and had five digs. Libero J.J. Castellano had a match-high eight digs.
For California Baptist, Shaun Dyk carried the team for the second straight night. Dyk knocked down 20 kills and hit .400 after posting 32 kills and a .411 hitting percentage the previous night.
Also for California Baptist, Shamsu Awudu had 12 kills and seven digs. Middle blocker Sergio Rose had a match-high five blocks to lead the Lancer defense.

Although a tournament champion was not crowned, the Loyola vs. Pacific match served as a championship match by pitting the winners of the previous night's matches.
Loyola (7-1) came away with the four-set victory and placed four players on the all-tournament team.
The Ramblers' middles carried them in the weekend's matches and Corey Kloos and James Grunst traded spots in the limelight. Grunst had 12 kills and 13 blocks against Cal Baptist, and Kloos shone with a team-high 17 kills and five blocks against Pacific. Grunst added 13 kills, four blocks and a .611 hitting percentage against UoP.
Also for the Ramblers, setter Brian Guntli had 54 assists and seven digs and guided the offense to a .326 hitting percentage. Scott Greene chipped in with 16 kills and a pair of aces, while Chris Kozlarek had 13 kills, three aces, nine digs and four blocks.
Pacific was led by outside hitter Bryson Metz, who tallied a match high 18 kills and hit a team-best .464. Setter Mitch Hazelett passed out 47 assists and had 12 digs. Brian Adamson added 11 kills, seven digs and five blocks, while libero Mauricio Brizuela had 10 digs.
