The Flyers utilized a five-run second inning to gain the upper hand in the contest. A pair of errors by Saginaw Valley pitcher Karen Ray paved the way to the big inning.

Carla Musillo began the rally with a one-out walk. Beth Shelus then reached on a fielder's choice where Ray looked to second base and then threw wildly to first. Christina Willis then popped up a squeeze bunt, but Ray dropped it and Musillo scored. Robin Martz singled home Shelus, and then Yusko delivered a two-run double. Kristy Vanek capped the rally with an RBI single.

Vanek helped the Flyers add an insurance run in the sixth when she drove in a run with a ground out.
