Final Stats
MUNCIE, Ind.--The 12th-ranked Lewis University men's volleyball team followed a disappointing loss to conference-leading Loyola this past Wednesday with a 3-0 loss on the road to Ball State.
The Flyers (13-12, 8-4 Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association), who held hopes of tying Loyola for the regular-season title until the March 23 loss, fell to the host Cardinals 24-30, 17-30, 28-30. It was Lewis' first loss to Ball State in six matches.
Lewis hit just .108, while the Cardinals (11-11, 6-3 MIVA) tallied a .355 hitting percentage. The Flyers were out-blocked 9-3.5 and out-dug 43-30.
Jared Dayton paced Lewis with 11 kills, four digs and a block. Enrique Escalante added nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage, while Greg Pochopien had six kills and a team-high three blocks.
The Flyers return home March 29 and will host Carthage in its second-to-last home match of the season. Match time is 7 p.m.
