Women's Volleyball Remains One of Two GLVC Unbeatens

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--Junior Sarah McKinney hammered 14 kills without an error in Lewis University's three-game sweep of Wisconsin-Parkside Tuesday night.

McKinney paced the Flyers (10-4, 3-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) with a .483 hitting percentage while helping the team to a 30-26, 30-23, 30-25 victory.

Lewis outhit UWP (2-14, 0-3 GLVC) .245-.145 and had 43 digs in the match.

Junior Theresa Nugent added 11 kills and two service aces, while setter Andrea Morrone handed out 32 assists. Senior Abby Hodge led the squad with 13 digs. Sophomore middle hitters Becca Lisle and Jenna Sayers chipped in with a team-high four blocks each.

Wisconsin-Parkside managed to remain close for most of the three games, but the Flyers pulled away down the stretch each time.

With an unblemished conference slate, Lewis joins Rockhurst (4-0 GLVC) as the only two teams in the 14-team league without a loss.

The Flyers will face a stern test this weekend when they travel to Kentucky to face Bellarmine and perennial conference power Northern Kentucky. Lewis plays Bellarmine (6-6, 3-2 GLVC) Friday at 7 p.m. and Northern Kentucky (13-4, 2-2 GLVC) Saturday at 1 p.m.
