Glenn's Double-Double Lifts Lewis Over Saint Xavier

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Shante Glenn registered game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season and lead the Flyers (9-5) to an 84-67 non-conference win over Saint Xavier (11-5) Thursday night at Neil Carey Arena.

Glenn, who also had a game-high five assists, produced her best point and rebound totals since last season. Mary Moskal (18) and Darcee Schmidt (16) were the other two Flyers to reach double figures in points.

The Flyers scored the game's first points with a 3-pointer from Schmidt and never trailed the rest of the night. Lewis led by 27 at the 4:54 mark of the first half and took a 24-point advantage to the locker room at intermission.

The Flyers shot 53.1 percent from the field, making 5-of-13 from 3-point range to set a season high for points (49) in a first half.

The Flyers stayed in control in the second half, increasing their lead to 27 for a second time with 5:17 to play before closing out the 17-point win.

Angie Brown (12) and Candis Jackson (11) paced the Cougars scoring effort.

Lewis shot 48.4 percent to Saint Xavier's 36.1 percent and made 18-of-25 from the line while limiting the Cougars to 10-of-16 from the stripe. The Cougars didn't take a single free throw in the first half.

The Flyers held the advantage in rebounds, 51-34, their highest total since December 16, 2003 against Saint Xavier.

The Flyers hit the court again on Saturday when they host GLVC foe Wisconsin-Parkside at 1 pm.
