ROMEOVILLE - A barrage of 3-pointers led Lewis to its largest victory margin in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game this season, a 104-81 thrashing of Missouri-Rolla Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena.

Six players scored in double figures for the Flyers, who registered a season scoring high and soared over the century mark for a second time this year. Lewis' previous season-best output was 101 points against non-conference opponent Northwood.

The Flyers (9-4, 4-2 GLVC) shot 55.6 percent from the floor overall, their best mark in a conference game and fourth 50-percent-or-better shooting effort in the last five outings.

The 3-point marksmanship was even better. Led by Matt Bogue (5-of-5) and Dustin Warfield (4-of-5), the Flyers - who began the game ranked 12th in the GLVC with an average of a little more than five 3-pointers - were 16-of-23 from beyond the arc. The 16 treys and 69.6-percent accuracy rate are season highs by a GLVC team, Bogue's perfect performance is a season best by a GLVC player and Warfield's four 3-pointers are his career high.

Bogue led all players with his season-high 19 points, which he scored in just 14 minutes, and Warfield finished with 16. Brandon Dagans tallied 12 points (all in the second half), John Loeffelholz netted 11, and Branden Hunter and Pat Monaghan registered 10 apiece. Ryan Sharp scored a season-high seven points.

A 12-3 run consisting of four 3-pointers, two by Monaghan, gave the Flyers a 24-9 lead with 9:48 remaining in the first half. The four treys were part of Lewis' 9-of-16 first-half showing from beyond the arc.

After Missouri-Rolla (2-11, 0-5 GLVC) scored the next seven points to slice the Lewis lead to 24-16, Hunter nailed a triple to put the Flyer advantage back into double figures for good. Lewis led by as many as 19 points before taking a 47-30 cushion into the locker room.

It was more of the same following intermission. Lewis' 67.9-percent overall shooting mark in the second half included a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point distance, and the Flyers built their lead to 41 points, 95-54, before settling for the final margin.

Lewis earned a 32-28 rebounding edge, led by Loeffelholz's six and Marcus Scott (Maywood, Ill./Proviso East)'s season-high five. Scott's three steals, tying his season high, led the Flyers to a team season-best 12 thefts. Kendall Patterson led all players with a career-high seven assists, Monaghan tied his career high with six assists and Dagans added four assists.

Lewis committed only 11 turnovers, its fewest in a league game this season, while forcing 19 Missouri-Rolla turnovers.

Steve Deken's 18 points led the Miners. Joe Roth and Will Terry scored 13 apiece, while Dan Kieres and Marcus Seidel each tallied 12. Roth had game highs of seven rebounds and four steals.

Lewis, now 7-2 at Neil Carey Arena, stays home to play its final non-conference game of the season Monday against Lincoln Christian. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
