Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - With 38 seconds remaining in overtime, Allison Wilkerson scored on a free kick to lift the Lewis Flyers to a 2-1 upset win over the Northern Kentucky Norse, Sunday afternoon at the Lewis Soccer Field in the Flyers' final home game of the season.

A Norse yellow card at 99:17 set up the free kick opportunity for Lewis. Wilkerson booted the free ball short of the goal, but the ball bounced over the head of Norse keeper Kelly Bare and into the back of the net.

The Flyers improved to 3-10-0 (2-7-0), while the Norse fell to 8-4-0 (5-4-0) for the season.

Lewis got on the board first in the game, when Courtney Kettel knocked a shot over the reach of Bare for her first goal of the season at 5:07.

Jayme Light evened the score for Northern Kentucky when she broke free and shot one past Lewis goalkeeper Lindsay Frederick at 16:56 for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Despite several prime scoring chances on both sides the rest of the way, neither team could bust the tie in regulation.

Frederick made six saves in the game to pick up the win, while Bare also stopped six shots.

The Norse out-shot the Flyers 20-15 and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Lewis was whistled for 17 fouls compared to 16 by Northern Kentucky.

Senior Day festivities were held prior to the game, and the Flyers honored seniors Kylie Bristol, Frederick, Kim Jensen, Katie Popp and Jenna Volpi.

The Flyers travel to face Wisconsin-Parkside on Oct. 5.
