Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Charisse Steckling hit .382 with 15 kills and Sara deBuhr hit .343 with a career-high 14 kills as the Lewis Flyers overpowered the Indianapolis Greyhounds 24-30, 30-25, 31-29, 30-19, Tuesday night in front of a jubilant crowd at Neil Carey Arena.

The win was the eighth in a row for the Flyers, who improved to 16-4 (10-1) and now sit just a half game out of first place in the conference standings. Indianapolis dropped to 17-8 (7-5).

After looking outplayed in the first game, the Flyers stayed right with the Greyhounds in game two. The score was tied 22-22 when Stephanie Sagat served up a pair of aces to put Lewis up by two. With Sagat still serving, the Flyers grabbed two more points and command of the game via a Greyhounds attack error and a kill by Steckling.

The Flyers kept the momentum in game three and built a 17-10 lead, but it didn't last. Indianapolis rallied for a 7-0 run and tied the score at 17-17. After going back-and-forth down the stretch, the Flyers took a 30-29 lead on a kill by Sagat and grabbed the win on the next point after a Greyhound attack error.

Clearly in command after the game three win, Lewis never trailed in game four.

Steckling's 15 kills equaled a match high, and she added four assisted blocks. deBuhr's effort also included one solo and two assisted blocks.

Sagat totaled 13 kills with six digs and three service aces, and Theresa Nugent registered 19 digs, 12 kills and one ace. Lauren Hatter had a team-best 20 digs, and Andrea Morrone tallied 52 assists, 12 digs and two aces.

Alyssa Carlotta and Lynne Ross led the Greyhounds with 15 kills each. Kyleigh Turner's 23 digs was a match high.

Lewis nailed eight total aces compared to four by Indianapolis. The Flyers also out-blocked the Greyhounds 7-4.

The Flyers play at Southern Indiana on Friday night, and face Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Saturday afternoon in what could be a battle for control of first place in the conference.
