ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Brandon Dagans scored a career-high 32 points to lead Lewis to a 71-61 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Rockhurst Saturday afternoon.

Dagans, who shot 9-of-15 overall and 3-of-6 from 3-point range, posted a career scoring high for a second time in three days, topping his 20-point effort in the Flyers' 83-80 overtime win over Drury on Thursday.

His career-best and team season-best 11-of-11 foul-shooting performance was part of Lewis' season-best 27-of-31 (.871), as the Flyers outscored Rockhurst 27-11 at the stripe. Dagans added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Flyers (5-1, 2-0 GLVC), who won their fourth consecutive game, lead the GLVC East Division.

Rockhurst (5-3, 0-2 GLVC) used a 10-0 run, punctuated by two Aaron Hill 3-pointers, to take a 35-30 edge with 2:23 to go in the first half, and the Hawks led 35-34 at the break.

After Rockhurst scored the first two baskets of the second half, Lewis took command with an 11-0 spurt. Dagans scored the first seven points with a 3-pointer, two free throws and a layup following Keelan Donald (Chicago, Ill./Leo)'s steal, and Jason Genova closed the run with a pair of buckets to put Lewis on top 45-39 at the 15:42 mark.

After Jordan Rider's 3-pointer cut the Lewis lead to three points momentarily, the Flyers took off again, this time with a 10-1 outburst. Dagans scored six of the 10 points, and Lewis had a 55-43 lead and firm control with 8:58 remaining. The Hawks got no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Genova scored 15 points and Stephan Bolt collected a team-high eight rebounds for the Flyers, who battled Rockhurst to a 32-32 stalemate on the boards. Lewis has not been outrebounded this season.

Hill was 4-of-6 from 3-point distance and led Rockhurst with 16 points. Kevin Martin and John Torson scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds apiece, and Jon-Erik Price netted 10 points. Torson added four blocks and three steals, and Martin had three blocks.

Rockhurst shot 52 percent to Lewis' 31 percent in the first half, but the Flyers turned the tables after intermission, shooting 48 percent in the second half while holding the Hawks to 35 percent. The Flyers committed a season-low 14 turnovers while forcing 20 Rockhurst miscues.

Lewis travels to Quincy on Thursday for its first GLVC road game of the season.
