Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Shante Glenn (Chicago, Ill./Lourdes)'s near triple-double of 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists helped power the Lewis Flyers past the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 62-59, Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers improved to 16-7 (12-3 GLVC), while the Panthers fell to 13-10 (8-6 GLVC) for the season.

Glenn's rebound and assist totals were both game highs, as she registered her fourth double-double of the season. Mary Moskal scored a game-high 20 points to go with eight boards and three assists.

The Flyers also received eight points apiece from Cassie Stark and Jenna Mooberry. Mooberry's point total matched her season high set on Jan. 14 against Wisconsin-Parkside.

With 3:41 to play in regulation, Stark made a layup that put the Flyers up for good at 56-55. Moskal hit a jumper and went 4-of-4 at the free-throw line in the final minute to preserve the three-point win.

Lewis opened the game with a 5-0 run, for what ended up being its biggest lead of the game. Following the Flyers' 5-0 start, the Panthers scored 11 unanswered points to take a six-point lead with 15:33 to go in the first half.

The Panthers held the lead for the remainder of the half, increasing it to a 10-point cushion (their biggest lead of the game) with 5:42 to play before the Flyers rallied for a 13-5 run to cut the Panthers' lead to two heading into halftime.

Darcee Schmidt tied the game at 29-29 with a layup early in the second half, but Kentucky Wesleyan responded with 10-4 outburst to take a six-point lead, their biggest of the second half.

The Flyers charged back with a 9-2 push to take a 42-41 lead with 12:36 to play in the game, but the lead only lasted until the 6:31 mark. Consecutive 3-pointers from Megan Fletcher gave the Panthers a three-point edge with 5:49 left to play.

A Mooberry layup at 5:02 cut the Panthers' lead to one, and Moskal grabbed a rebound off a missed jumper by Fletcher to set the Flyers up for the go-ahead score.

Fletcher led the Panthers with 16 points and was one of four Panthers to reach double figures. Laura McClintic scored 12, while Mary Czarnecki and LaTasha Henry each posted 11 points.

Henry tallied all 11 of her points in the first half, but she also recorded three fouls along the way. She only took one shot in just eight minutes of action off the bench in the second half.

The Flyers shot 45 percent from the field, hit 9-of-13 from the foul line and grabbed 41 rebounds. The Panthers were 38 percent from the floor with 5-of-11 shooting at the free-throw stripe and 34 rebounds.

Lewis returns to action at Indianapolis on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 pm.
