INDIANAPOLIS - Stephan Bolt registered his best scoring total against a Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent and his third double-double of the season Thursday night, but Indianapolis edged Lewis 63-60 to gain a split of the season series.

Bolt led the Flyer scoring effort with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and collected a team-high 10 rebounds, his sixth double-figure rebounding effort of the season. He has led Lewis on the glass in 20 of 24 games.

Pat Monaghan tallied 15 points and a team-high four assists for the Flyers, who slipped to 12-12 overall and 6-10 in the GLVC.

Monaghan's free throw with 3:01 remaining tied the game for an 11th time, 58-58. Indy's Daniel Cox, who scored 15 points off the bench, hit a 3-pointer on the Greyhounds' next possession, and Jesse McClung's layup with 42 seconds left gave the hosts a 63-58 lead.

A layup by Kendall Patterson made it a one-possession game, and when McClung missed the front end of a 1-and-1, the door was open for Lewis to force overtime. But three attempts from beyond the arc on the Flyers' final possession didn't find the bucket, and Indianapolis held on to improve to 4-20 overall and 3-13 in league play.

Six points was the widest gap between the teams all evening. That advantage was an 18-12 Greyhound lead at the 10:58 mark of the first half, but a 7-0 spurt put the Flyers up for the first time, 19-18, with 8:28 to play. Ten lead changes and four ties followed before the first half ended in a 35-all deadlock.

Branden Hunter (Silvis, Ill./United Township)'s 3-pointer with 11:24 left gave Lewis its first lead of the second half, 49-48. Cox and Justin Barnard, who led all scorers with 22 points, sank consecutive treys to give Indy a five-point edge.

The Greyhounds couldn't pull away, however. A jumper by Brandon Dagans, another Hunter 3-pointer and Bolt's free throw put the Flyers on top 55-54 at the 6:41 mark, and the lead changed hands three more times prior to Monaghan's game-tying free throw.

Braxton Mills scored 10 points, and his game-high 14 rebounds helped Indianapolis win the battle of the boards 40-29. Indy won despite committing 20 turnovers - Monaghan and Patterson had three steals apiece for Lewis - while the Flyers suffered just nine turnovers, only two of which came in the second half.

Lewis plays its final regular-season road game Saturday at GLVC East Division leader Saint Joseph's. Game time is 3 p.m.
