INDIANAPOLIS - Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central)' two-out RBI-single in the top of the seventh inning led the Lewis Flyers (19-5, 6-2) to a 3-2 win and a split of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

Indianapolis (17-13, 6-4) earned a 2-1 extra-inning win over the Flyers in the opener.

The Flyers trailed 2-1 in the second game until the fourth inning when a fielding error by the Indianapolis center fielder with two outs allowed Mallory Paine to reach second and then score on a single up the middle by Shannon Roney.

In the top of the seventh, Robin Martz walked and reached second when Beth Shelus put down a sacrifice bunt. Amy Yusko walked in the next at-bat to bring up Dianis, who singled home Martz with the go-ahead run.

Julie Wingerter (6-1) picked up the win in the circle, pitching 2 2/3 innings in relief of starter Lisa Gartland, who allowed seven hits and two earned runs while striking out four. Wingerter gave up just two hits while striking out five batters.

Dianis notched the Flyers only RBI in the first game when she grounded out to shortstop in the fourth inning and Gartland, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored from third on the play.

The Flyers 1-0 lead stood until the bottom of the sixth inning when Lauren Booten homered to right center. Then in the bottom of the eighth, Booten connected with another solo shot to give the Greyhounds the win.

Courtney Lyons (6-3) took the loss for Lewis, despite a strong six-hit, seven-strikeout performance. Indianapolis' Beth Wendlinger (12-5), the GLVC Player and Pitcher of the Week, earned the win.

The Flyers return to the field on Sunday with a doubleheader at Saint Joseph's at Noon.
