ROMEOVILLE - Darryl Jenkins had four hits, including a two-run triple, in the Lewis University baseball team's Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader loss to Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at Brennan Field.

Missouri-St. Louis received complete-game pitching performances from Justin Laramie in the seven-inning opener and Mike Lantzy in the nine-inning nightcap and walked away with a 5-1, 8-2 sweep of the twinbill.

Jenkins was 2-for-3 in game one. The Flyers (10-38, 9-31 GLVC) tallied their only run in the fifth on Billy Duffy (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central)'s ground ball that scored Brandon Niewinski, who had drawn a leadoff walk.

Lewis starter Jon Guzzo (3-6) allowed just two hits in 4 1/3 innings but had to leave because of irritation on a finger of his pitching hand. Laramie (3-1) allowed four hits and two walks.

In game two, the Flyers took a 2-1 lead in the third on Jenkins' two-out triple that plated Duffy and Phil Marchinski. But the Rivermen (17-23, 16-21 GLVC) scored the tying run in the fourth and added two in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the eighth.

Jenkins, Marchinski and Ryan Reynolds collected two hits apiece, and Jim Gabriel doubled.

Lantzy (3-5) struck out eight, did not walk a batter and surrendered nine hits, including just three over the final five innings. Tim Harmatys (2-6) suffered the loss.

The teams will play another doubleheader, weather permitting, Sunday at noon.
