Flyers Collect Win No. 10

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Theresa Nugent (Oak Lawn, Ill./Queen of Peace)'s match-high 14 kills helped lift the Lewis Flyers to a 30-23, 30-24, 30-24 sweep of Wisconsin-Parkside Tuesday night in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers improved to 10-4 (4-1 GLVC), winners of eight of their last nine matches. The Rangers dropped to 4-9 (1-4).

Nugent, who also recorded 11 digs, paced a Flyers' attack that hit .306 for the match. Joining Nugent in double figures in kills were Charisse Steckling with 11 kills and Stephanie Sagat with 10 kills on a .409 hitting performance.

Sara deBuhr hit a match-best .545, collecting six kills on 11 attempts, and she added one solo and three assisted blocks. Andrea Morrone led the Flyers with 12 digs, while Sagat added 10.

The Rangers were led by Jennifer Abitz with 12 kills and Kristin Schmidt with 11 kills. Jackie Nehls was one of three Rangers to reach double figures in digs, leading all players with 15 for the match.

Lewis limited the Rangers to a .183 hitting percentage, but the Rangers held a 7-5 edge in blocks.

Lewis hosts Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
