Flyers Winners At Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - Jared Dayton led Lewis with 11 kills as the Flyers defeated Carthage 30-18, 30-28, 30-25 Wednesday evening in the Flyers' third road match of the season.

The Flyers (5-0, 1-0) are off to the second-best start in program history. The 1998 team went to 6-0 before losing for the first time.

Dayton's 11 kills came on 20 attempts with just three errors for a .400 hitting percentage. He also totaled six digs and one block.

David Kelnhofer added nine kills and had two digs and one block assist. Craig Boller and Drew Pickering had eight kills apiece and Alex Vigansky registered seven kills. Boller collected his eight kills on 14 attempts with only one error for a .500 hitting percentage. Pickering led the Flyers with seven digs, and Vigansky had six digs and a team-best four block assists.

Carthage's Shane Olson led all players with 12 kills. Teammate Ryan Baumgartner posted a match-high 12 digs.

Lewis out hit Carthage .265 to .118 and held an 8-6 advantage in blocks. Lewis hit .567 (19-2-30) in the first game before dropping to .030 (11-10-33) in game two. Game three saw the Flyers hit .231 (16-7-39).

Lewis travels to face Clarke (Iowa) on Saturday.
