Mary Moskal registered her fifth double-double of the season, posting game highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the No. 9 Lewis Flyers to a 92-72 win over visiting Southern Indiana, Thursday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference competition.
The Flyers (16-2, 9-1) have matched the program's longest winning streak at 10 games, while Southern Indiana dropped to 11-7 (5-5). Lewis' 92 points were a season high.
Moskal shot 11-of-13 from the field, draining both 3-pointers she took and hitting 3-of-5 at the foul line. She also dished out four assists and had two steals. Moskal's 27 points were four shy of her career high of 31 set on Jan. 13.
Darcee Schmidt had 24 points, going 10-of-16 from the floor with four 3-pointers. She scored 17 in the second half, helping the Flyers increase their 15-point halftime lead to well past 20.
Kelly Dianis added 14 points, 12 in the first half, shooting 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Brittney Diener added a game-high nine assists and pulled down seven rebounds. Erin Cox added seven boards and Lauresha Hawkins scored eight points.
Jasmine Baines led Southern Indiana with 23 points, and Katie Thiesenhusen scored 10.
The Flyers shot 52.2 percent compared to 35 percent by the Screaming Eagles. Lewis made 12 from 3-point range, while limiting Southern Indiana to six 3-point baskets.
After trading baskets in the early minutes, Lewis took the lead for good when Schmidt hit a 3-pointer to make the score 9-6 at the 16:41 mark of the first half. Southern Indiana cut Lewis' lead to two points with 11:23 to play in the first half, but the Flyers outscored the Screaming Eagles 16-5 over the next 4:27, increasing their lead to double digits for good.
The Flyers look for a school record 11th win in row on Saturday when they host Kentucky Wesleyan at 1 pm.
