It was another day, another victory for the Flyers as they defeated the Missouri-Rolla Lady Miners 3-1 (30-21, 30-22, 28-30, 33-31) Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. It was the Flyers' third conference victory in as many days.
The Flyers took early control of game one, jumping out to a 6-1 lead.
The Flyers began game two with runs of six, five and four points to take an early 15-5 lead.
The Lady Miners fought back to take game three on a kill by Maddie Owak. Owak finished the match with seven kills.
Lewis turned away two Lady Miners' game points to take the match on back-to-back kills by sophomore Stephanie Sagat and sophomore Kim Richards.
Sagat recorded a kill-dig double-double with a team-high 14 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Lauren Seliga also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs.
Richards added 12 kills and five digs.
Freshman Ashlee Lindish had a match-high 22 digs. It was Lindish's eighth straight match with double-digit digs.
Senior Andrea Morrone had 28 assists and four kills.
¬For the Lady Miners, Leandra Pelae recorded 16 digs and a match-high 16 kills.
Lewis out-hit Missouri-Rolla .276 to .199. Both teams recorded five blocks.
Lewis improved to 19-3 (11-2 GLVC) while the Lady Miners fell to 3-22 (2-11 GLVC).
Lewis hosts a non-conference match against St. Xavier on Wednesday evening at Neil Carey Arena before playing five-straight road matches.
