USI Tops Lewis 4-1

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Despite junior Bethanee Taylor (Silvis, Ill./United Township)'s third goal of the season, the Flyers suffered a 4-1 setback at Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game.

In a hot, sunny day in downstate Indiana the Screaming Eagles scored the only goal of the first half on a goal by Julie Vaughan at :17, assisted by Katie Teagarden.

The Screaming Eagles scored three quick goals in the second half. Keri Land scored at 49:10 off of a corner kick.

At 52:07 Katie Grossman found the back of the net off of a corner kick by Vaughan.

It was Vaughan again at 52:41, scoring an unassisted goal.

Taylor got Lewis on the board at 86:07, assisted by sophomore Amy Foran. It was Taylor's third goal of the season.

Junior Courtney Kettel registered two shots on goal for the Flyers.

Southern Indiana held the edge in shots (24-10) and corner kicks (11-4).

Lewis fell to 5-9-0 (3-7-0 GLVC) while Southern Indiana improved to 6-7-1 (4-4-1).

The Flyers host Drury on Friday at noon.
