RENSSELAER, Ind. - Trailing at halftime for only the second time this season, the No. 7 Lewis Flyers outscored Saint Joseph's 44-26 in the second half en route to a 74-63 win Saturday afternoon at the Richard F. Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse.

The Flyers (19-2, 12-1) increased their school-record win streak to 13 games and have reached 19 wins for a third season in a row, a first in program history.

Senior Brittney Diener broke Lewis' career assists record in the game. She registered 10 assists, increasing her career total to 454, five more than the old mark held by Rosemary Turner (1983-87).

Three Flyers scored in double figures in the win over the Pumas. Darcee Schmidt led Lewis with 25 points, which included three 3-pointers and 4-of-4 at the foul line. Schmidt also had six rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

Mary Moskal scored 17 points, going 5-of-5 at the line, and she collected six boards and three assists. Erin Cox matched her season high with 16 points, equaling a career best with three 3-point baskets.

Jenna Mooberry contributed eight points, hitting two 3-pointers, and she had four rebounds, three assists and one steal. Diener added three points and three steals with her game-high 10 assists.

Saint Joseph's Allison Hughes led all players with 27 points.

Lewis led by as many as nine points in the first half before watching Saint Joseph's climb back and take a seven-point halftime lead.

The Flyers opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take the lead for good, receiving a 3-pointer from Schmidt and Mooberry during the spurt. By the 9:29 mark, Lewis led by its largest margin of the game, 55-44.

Despite the double-digit lead, the Flyers had to work to keep Saint Joseph's at bay. The Pumas got to within five points of the lead with 5:56 to play, before Cox drained a 3-pointer to push the lead back to eight.

A 3-pointer by Hughes with 1:16 to play pulled the Pumas to within four points of the Flyers, but Diener answered with a trey of her own, hitting from the top of the circle as time expired on the shot clock.

Hughes fired for a long two on the next trip down the floor but was fouled. She made both free throws to make it a five-point game with 34 seconds to play.

The Pumas immediately fouled on the next possession, putting Moskal at the line. Moskal hit both freebies, and Schimdt intercepted a Pumas' pass on the next possession and ran down for an easy layup to seal the Flyers' win.

The Flyers travel to face Northern Kentucky on Thursday.
