The Lewis University men's volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a dominating 30-22, 30-23, 30-27 sweep of Mercyhurst Friday night in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association contest.
Lewis improved to 8-3 (3-3), while Mercyhurst dropped to 0-8 (0-3).
Jared Dayton and Drew Pickering led the Lewis attack with 11 kills apiece. Dayton hit .421 (11-3-19) and added four digs and two assisted blocks. Pickering hit .368 (11-4-19) and registered three blocks (1BS-2BA), one dig and one ace.
Alex Vigansky hit .571 with five kills and totaled seven assisted blocks. David Kelnhofer had seven kills, five digs and two assisted blocks, and Craig Boller recorded six kills and two digs. Nick Perkaes added a math-high 11 digs.
Tim Wagner led Mercyhurst with 15 kills, while Gary Coad had nine digs.
The Flyers hit .317 (52-20-101), breaking the .300 mark for a sixth time this season. The Lakers were limited to a .162 (39-23-99) attack effort. Lewis led in blocks, 11-9.
The Flyers host Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday.
