Flyers Fall In Season Opener

ST. PETERSBERG, Fla. - Sophomore Kim Richards led Lewis with 13 kills, and sophomore Stephanie Sagat posted a kill-dig double-double, but the Flyers fell to Saint Leo University 3-1 (27-30, 35-33, 30-20, 30-24) Friday afternoon in the Flyers' season opener on the campus of Eckerd College.

Richards, who also tallied four digs and an ace, set a career high in kills. Sagat registered 11 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Ashlee Lindish had a team-best 17 digs. Senior Andrea Morrone totaled 38 assists. Freshman Lauren Seliga and senior Sylvia Ciezak had nine and eight kills, respectively.

Three Lions posted double-digits in kills. Chelsea Armer led all players with 15 kills. Teammate Eni Lukacs posted a match-high 18 digs.

The Lions out-hit the Flyers .301 to .192 and held a 9-2 advantage in blocks. St. Leo also served 10 aces compared to six by Lewis.

The Flyers look to rebound later this afternoon, as they face Francis Marion at 4:30 p.m.
