Lewis Falls To Indianapolis, 3-1

ROMEOVILLE, Ill - The Lewis Flyers set a team season high with 10 blocks and limited Indianapolis to a .153 hitting percentage, but came up short in their bid to take an early edge in the GLVC East standings as the Indianapolis Greyhounds defeated Lewis 30-26, 30-28, 21-30, 30-24 Saturday afternoon.

The Flyers dropped to 9-2 (1-1) and had their nine-match win streak snapped. Indianapolis improved to 10-1 (2-0).

The Greyhounds used a 7-2 run with the score tied at 12 to take control of game one.

Lewis controlled most of game two and held a 27-23 advantage before Indianapolis went on a 7-1 run to steal the game.

With the match on the line the Flyers jumped out to a 5-1 lead in game three. The Greyhounds fought back to tie the match at seven, but the Flyers used a .208 to .097 hitting percentage edge to cruise to a nine-point victory in the third game.

The Flyers rallied from a five-point deficit to tie the fourth game at 13 but never held the lead. The Greyhounds took over and cruised to a six-point victory, out-hitting the Flyers .137 to -.041.

Sophomore Stephanie Sagat recorded a kill-dig double-double with season highs in kills (18) and digs (20). She also added two assisted blocks and one service ace.

Senior Andrea Morrone hit .350 with 40 assists, 16 digs and seven kills. She also recorded two assisted blocks and a solo block.

The Flyers had a season high five players record double-digit digs. Freshmen Ashlee Lindish and Lauren Seliga led the Flyers with 27 and 22 digs, respectively. Both are career highs.

Indianapolis had three players reach double-digit kills, led by Liz Shuyler's 17. Both Brandi McAllister and Lyndsay Callahan recorded a kill-dig double-double. McAllister tallied 11 kills and 17 digs while Callahan had 12 digs and 20 digs.

Kyleigh Turner notched 33 digs and Beth Robbins had 56 assists for the Greyhounds.

The Flyers look to rebound against Wisconsin-Parkside at 7:00 p.m on Tuesday at Neil Carey Arena.
