OWENSBORO, Ky. - Junior Kelly Dianis connected on 4-of-5 3-pointers on her way to a game high 17 points to guide the Flyers to a 55-50 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan in a Great Lakes Valley Conference road game on Thursday evening.

After jumping out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a jumper by freshman Jenny Turpel and a 3-pointer by junior Jenna Mooberry, the Panthers rallied to tie it at five. Lewis then went on an 11-2 run thanks in part to back-to-back 3-pointers by Dianis. The Panthers worked their way back to take their only lead of the game with 1:03 remaining in the first half on a layup by Fontay Martin. Sophomore Amy Smith made a jumper with four seconds remaining in the half to make Kentucky Wesleyan's lead short lived. Smith was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor on the night, finishing with eight points in ten minutes of play.

Kentucky Wesleyan twice tied the game in the second half, but every time the Panthers tried to make a run the Flyers responded. When the Panthers tied the game their final time at 40 with 9:02 remaining the Flyers scored the next five points, capped by a Turpel layup. Kentucky Wesleyan got within three points with 2:17 remaining on a jumper in the paint by Laura McClintic, but steals by sophomore Kaci Baird and Mooberry combined with a jumper by Turpel down the stretch helped put the game away.

Turpel finished with 12 points and four steals. Mooberry had a solid game on both ends of the court with seven rebounds, six points, a career high four blocks, two steals and two assists. Sophomore Lauresha Hawkins notched a career high nine assists. Senior Jennifer Green had six points and three steals.

Fontay finished with 12 points to lead the Panthers. Amanda Harnist added 11. Kentucky Wesleyan dropped to 7-5 (1-3 GLVC). The Flyers improved to 7-4 (4-1 GLVC) and 3-0 in GLVC road games this season. With Indianapolis' loss on Thursday night the Flyers are tied with the Greyhounds atop the GLVC East standings.

The Flyers play at Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
