Romeoville, Ill. – The fall season ended with a bang for the Lewis University women’s tennis team as the Flyers picked up the 9-0 non-conference whitewash victory over St. Francis (Ill.) at the Lewis University Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewis’ No. 1 doubles tandem of Agata Wojciechowska (Des Plaines, Ill./Oakton C.C.) and Maggie Novack (Fort Wayne, Ind.) opened the afternoon up with a 8-2 win over St. Francis’ Beth Frey and Emily Zajada. Wojciechowska would later upend Frey at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win, while Novack picked up the 6-0, 7-5 victory over Zajada at No. 4 singles.
Lewis freshmen Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) and Katie Hargrove (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) claimed an 8-3 win over Danielle Emola and Carla Braun at No. 2 doubles. Brown also defeated Emola at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-0, while Hargrove rolled past Corinne Lutz, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
At No. 3 doubles, Lewis’ Clare Kessler (Onalaska, Wis./Aquinas) and senior Jordan Lynde (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) dropped Lutz and Agnes Belza, 8-1. Kessler also defeated Belza at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Lynde dropped Braun, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Lewis will take four months off before returning to action against DePaul on February 7th.
