Lewis Men's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight With 1-0 Win Over Kentucky Wesleyan

Owensboro, Kent. – Lewis University senior midfielder Cory Mastey (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) scored in his third consecutive game and broke a scoreless tie at the 75:59 mark, giving the visiting Flyers their fifth-straight win with the 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Kentucky Wesleyan at Panther Field on Sunday afternoon.

   With the victory, Lewis improves to 9-1 on the season and 4-1 in GLVC action, while the Panthers drop to 0-11 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

   Mastey was assisted on the play by both Tim Vance (Highland, Ill./Mater Dei) and Nestor Hernandez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West). Mastey now shares the team lead with Hernandez in goals scored, as each player has seven tallies on the campaign.

   Lewis senior goaltender Anthony Szymel (Naperville, Ill./North) stopped two shots on the afternoon for his sixth shutout of the season.

   Lewis is back in action on Friday, October 10th, as the Flyers travel to Quincy for a GLVC match-up at 5 p.m. (CST).
