OWENSBORO, Ky.Two second half goals fueled a 2-1 comeback Great Lakes Valley Conference victory for Lewis over Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Kentucky Wesleyan grabbed a 1-0 lead just 23 seconds into the second half when Kristen Chinn scored. Lewis answered at 62:39 when freshman Amanda Slove (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) scored her first career goal on a corner kick from sophomore Jessica Summers-Hernandez (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle).
Summers-Hernandez provided the game winner at 81:48 on an assist by Amy Foran (Batavia, Ill/Batavia). The score was Summers-Hernandez's team-leading third goal of the season. Foran leads the team with four assists.
Lewis dominated the offensive pace, holding a 20-11 edge in shots and 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Foran and Summers-Hernandez each had four shots on goal.
The Flyers had 10 corner kicks to Kentucky Wesleyan's four. The Flyers are 5-5 (3-2 GLVC). Kentucky Wesleyan is 3-8-1 (0-6-1).
