SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - The Lewis women's basketball team fell 69-30 to No. 7 Michigan Tech in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) led the Flyers with six points on 3-of-6 shooting. Junior Amy Smith (Southgate, Mich./Anderson) and sophomore Kelly Monaco (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) each scored five off the bench. Sophomore Kady Currin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had three steals.
Jessica Racine had a game-high 18 points for Michigan Tech. Lindsey Lindstrom scored 14. The Flyers were within five points at 18-13 with 4:34 left. Then the Huskies went on a 24-1 run through the end of the first half and early second to take control of the game.
The Huskies improve to 2-0 while the Flyers are now 0-2. Lewis hits the home court for the first time on Tuesday against Robert Morris at 7 p.m.
