ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Junior Stephanie Sagat (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) hit .500 with a match-high 13 kills and four aces to lead No. 22 Lewis to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-15) Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over UW-Parkside on Tuesday evening. A victory on Friday over Bellarmine clinches the right to host the GLVC Tournament at Neil Carey Arena.

Seniors Lauren Hatter (Avon, Ind./Avon), Justina Begemann (Odessa, Mo./Odessa) and Jackie Eichorst (Chicago, Ill./Immaculate Heart of Mary) were honored after the match.

"All three of our seniors came out and treated it like any other match, knowing it could be their last on this court," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "They played hard, communicated well and played the way seniors should play."

Set one was the closest of the three, featuring six ties and four lead changes. UW-Parkside took an 11-10 lead before the Flyers finished the set on a 15-8 run. Lewis never trailed in set two, including finishing the set scoring nine straight points. The Rangers led set three 3-1 before a 9-2 Lewis run gave the Flyers all the momentum they needed to finish off the match.

Begemann tallied seven kills, seven digs and three blocks (one solo). Junior Kim Richards (Evergreen Park, Ill./Mother McAuley) and sophomore Danielle Mount (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) each hit .538 with seven kills and no errors.

Hatter, who became the Flyers' rally scoring era career leader in digs on Saturday, notched 11 more on Senior Night. Her career total is now 1,411. She needs 10 more to set a new all-time career Lewis record.

The Rangers are now 10-20 (3-13 GLVC).

The Flyers improve to 27-6 (15-1 GLVC). Lewis finishes the regular season at Bellarmine on Friday and Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

"It is a long and difficult road trip this weekend," Smith said. "But we have rebounded mentally the last few days and I think we are ready."

The match at Bellarmine starts at 6 p.m. CT on Friday. Lewis finishes the regular season 16-0 at home. The Flyers are an amazing 41-2 at home during the last three seasons.
