Saint Joseph's Tops Flyers, 82-69

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Led by junior Brandon Dagans with 16 points, four Flyers reached double figures in scoring, but Saint Joseph's used a strong first-half to build a lead and hold off the Flyers 82-69, Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Lewis (18-7, 11-6) was down by as many as 25 points with just over five minutes to play in the game but finished strong with a 23-11 run. Unfortunately, time ran out before the Flyers could close the gap.

Dagans was 7-for-14 from the floor with four rebounds and three steals. Senior Dustin Warfield scored 15 points, hitting 9-of-10 at the line. Senior Stephan Bolt and junior Jason Genova each scored 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Ronald Coleman's 16 points led the Pumas. Brandon Mayse added a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The Pumas never trailed in the contest. They opened the game on a 9-2 run and built a 17-point lead for before heading into the half up by 12. In the second, the Pumas increased their lead to as many as 25 points before Lewis came back to within 10 prior to the final buzzer.

The Flyers have already punched their tick to the conference's postseason tournament, which begins Tuesday March 4. Lewis hosts Bellarmine on Thursday and northern Kentucky on Saturday to conclude the regular season. The Flyers are looking to finish 13-0 at home.
