Flyers Come Up Short In Home Finale

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Junior Brandon Dagans scored a game-high 31 points, but it wasn't enough for the Flyers in an 88-78 home loss to Northern Kentucky, Saturday afternoon in the Flyers regular-season finale.

Dagan shot 9-for-16 from the field, setting a career-high with six 3-pointers. He also went 7-for-8 from the foul line. Junior Jason Genova added 16 points, hitting four treys, and senior Matthew Marino totaled a season-high of 10 points.

Senior Stephan Bolt recorded nine points and a team-best seven rebounds. Senior Brandon Alexander added five points, including two dunks, and a block.

Senior Harrison Morton paced three Norse in double figures in scoring with 27 points. He also added a game-high nine rebounds.

Northern Kentucky scored the game's first basket and never looked back. By 16:56 of the first, the Norse led by 11 points. A 3-pointer by senior Ryan Sharp with 6:30 to play in the half pulled Lewis within six, but by halftime the Norse pushed their advantage back to 10 points.

The Norse maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half, leading by as many as 23 points midway through the period en route to their second consecutive GLVC East Division title.

The Norse shot 59.2 percent for the game, compared to 50 percent by Lewis. Northern Kentucky made 21-of-26 at the free throw line. The Flyers went 16-for-28 at the line.

The Flyers finished the regular season 18-9 (11-8 GLVC) to post their best overall and conference record since the 2003-04 season. The Flyers honored their seniors prior to the game, presenting framed jerseys to Bolt, Marino, Alexander, Keelan Donald, Dan Lewis, Kendall Patterson and Dustin Warfield.

Lewis will face Northern Kentucky again on Tuesday in the first round of the GLVC Championship Tournament. Tip-off in Highland Heights, Ky. is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
