KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Senior Mallory Paine went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI as the Flyers defeated Dowling College 8-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. Later on, Lewis used the arm and bat of junior Courtney Lyons to pull out a 2-1 win over College of Saint Rose.

In the victory over Dowling, the Flyers (8-7) received 11 hits from seven different batters including seven doubles. Paine's three-hit performance included two doubles. Freshman Kayla Smith also hit two doubles, collecting one RBI in the process. Senior Carla Musillo, junior Jessica Beck and freshman Stephanie Harmon also doubled in the game.

The Flyers led 2-0 after four innings, and then scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Jenna Howard (3-3) collected the win, allowing four hits with just one earned run in a complete-game effort.

Against Saint Rose, the Flyers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Musillo knocked in sophomore Kara Harmatys. The lead lasted until the fifth when Saint Rose tied the game with an RBI single.

Lyons (5-3) entered the game in the sixth in relief of freshman Diana Pickrum and didn't allow a single hit the remainder of the game while striking out five batters. In the bottom half of the sixth, she became the Flyers' offense hero by belting a long solo home run down the left field.

The Flyers conclude action in Florida on Thursday, facing Palm Beach Atlantic at 11 a.m. and Grand Valley State at 3 p.m.
