Game Two Box Score
LOUISVILLE -
Junior Tim Bingham had four hits and three RBI on the day, including an RBI in the Flyers' 3-2 opening game victory over conference foe Bellarmine. In the second game, the Knights defeated Lewis 9-4.
In game one, Bellarmine pushed a run across in the second. Lewis responded with two in the top of the third. After sophomore Ryan McManaman walked and freshman Mike Vucsko singled to leadoff the inning, senior Billy Duffy fouled out and senior Mike Smith struck out. Senior Bryan Druktenis struck out, but was safe at first on a passed ball to load the bases. Blessed with a fourth out in the inning, Lewis took advantage. Junior Chris McCall was hit by a pitch to force in McManaman and tie it at one. Bingham singled to score Vucsko, but Druktenis was thrown out at home trying to score.
Bellarmine tied it with one in the fourth, but it could have been worse. Starter senior Ryan Duran (1-5) induced an inning ending double play to get out of a bases loaded jam.
In the seventh the Flyers loaded the bases. Smith scored when sophomore Joe Carbone was hit by a pitch. Junior Chris Brigham came in and earned his first save of the year.
In game two, Lewis scored three in the top of the first. Bingham singled in Druktenis and Smith. Freshman Richard Forkin knocked in McCall for the Flyers' third run. Bellarmine responded with five of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Druktenis singled in Duffy in the fifth to make it 5-4. But Bellarmine added four in the sixth to pull away and take game two. Senior Adam Stabosz (4-7) took the loss.
Bellarmine is now 33-18 (23-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference). The Flyers finish the 2008 season at 18-29 (11-21 GLVC), the most overall victories since 2002.
