The Flyers were within one at 18-17 in set one, but a 7-1 run down the stretch by the Golden Bears got the Flyers off on the wrong foot. Set two was similar, with Lewis trailing only 17-16 before the defending champs finished with an 8-1 run. The Golden Bears controlled set three to finish off the Flyers.
Sagat hit .600 with 12 kills and seven digs. Senior Justina Begemann and junior Sara deBuhr each had five kills. Reudi totaled 23 assists, seven digs and three kills.
There is little time for the Flyers (1-1) to relax as they are back in action on Saturday. They face No. 22 UC San Diego in the early match and tournament host No. 4 Cal State San Bernardino in the late match.
