MIDLAND, Mich. - The No. 13 Lewis University men's soccer team defeated Northwood 2-0 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Flyers dominated the pace of the game, taking 20 shots to Northwood's two. Only one of Northwood's two shots was on goal, making an easy day for senior goaltender Anthony Szymel.

Junior Nestor Hernandez took eight shots. Two were on goal and one found the back of the net. Hernandez scored from seven yards out on an assist by junior Art Rodriguez at 27:10. The Flyers maintained a 1-0 lead till the 57:26 mark when sophomore Mardoche Beya scored off a cross from senior Craig McIntosh. Strong Lewis defense held the two-goal advantage the rest of the way.

In addition to the dominating edge in shots, the Flyers also held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. The Flyers return home on Sunday to face Saint Xavier.
