ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No. 8 Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers slipped by Lewis 1-0 on Friday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game. It was a defensive struggle the entire way, but in the end a lone second half goal lifted the Rangers to the victory.

Sophomore goaltender Megan George (Wauseon, Ohio (Wauseon)) made seven saves. At 13:15 the Rangers' Becky Ziriln busted through on a breakaway. George stepped up and smothered her shot attempt to keep the game scoreless. At 38:80 it was George making another impressive play, this time jumping to keep Zirlin's shot attempt from finding the back of the net. Thanks to George the squads stayed tied till the break.

The Flyers recorded the first two shots of the second half, but the Rangers were the ones to put one on the board first. It was Zirlin again, on a breakaway getting around George's left side and finding the back of the net. The Rangers held on to the one-goal lead the rest of the way.

Lewis is now 4-3 (2-2 GLVC) while the Rangers are 7-0 (3-0 GLVC). The Flyers are back in action on Sunday when they step out of conference. Lewis hits the road to face No. 5 Winona State at noon.
