ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Senior Stephanie Sagat (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) hit .500 with 15 kills to lead the No. 13 Lewis women's volleyball over Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon (25-19, 25-17, 25-21). The win pushes Lewis' Great Lakes Valley Conference record to a perfect 6-0.

"I think Stephanie played like one of the best players in the conference today," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "Offensively and defensively everything was good."

In addition to her match-high 15 kills, Sagat also recorded seven digs, three block assists and one ace. Senior Ashlee Lindish (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) recorded 17 digs. Sophomore Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence) added nine kills to just one hitting error. She also recorded four blocks (two solo). Senior Sara deBuhr (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) finished with six kills and five blocks (one solo) in two sets of action. Redshirt sophomore Kelly McConkey (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) had 20 digs.

Lewis used a 7-1 run in each of the first two sets to cruise to a 2-0 advantage to the delight of the vocal homecoming crowd.

Set three was tighter, with Missouri S&T holding a 20-18 lead. Lewis asked for time and the Flyers responded with a 7-1 run to close out the match.

The Flyers out-hit the Lady Miners .237 to .075.

"I thought we played cleaner than we have in awhile," Smith said. "We took care of the ball when it was on our side and I thought there were a couple hustle plays we didn't give up on that in the past we might have."

Former Lewis women's volleyball player Connie Reedy (1983-1986) was inducted into the Lewis Athletics Hall of Fame before the match.

Missouri S&T falls to 6-16 (2-4 GLVC). Lewis is 16-3 (6-0 GLVC). Lewis travels to Louisville, Ky. on Friday evening to face conference foe Bellarmine.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
