ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Junior Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) and senior Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill/Hinsdale Central) each scored a team-high 10 points as the Flyers extended their home winning streak to four games, defeating Trinity Christian, 70-51, in a non-conference game Thursday evening at Neil Carey Arena.

Lewis came out strong after the opening tip beginning the game on an 18-4 run in the first 6:14. All 18 points were scored off of 3-pointers as juniors Kelly Monaco (Chicago, Ill/Resurrection) and Kady Currin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) each had two trifectas apiece. Dianis and sophomore Devon Carbaugh (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) each added one.

The Flyers continued to control the first twenty minutes on both ends of the floor. On the defensive end, they forced 19 turnovers and eight steals during the opening frame. Lewis went into the locker room with a 40-19 halftime lead.

Lewis continued their lead into the second half, as each Flyer saw action.

Carbaugh finished with nine points and Monaco added eight. Senior Amy Smith (Southgate, Mich./Anderson) added seven points. Currin, sophomore Lory Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township/UW-Green Bay) and sophomore Carol Kruckman (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) each chipped in six points.

Shakyia Vassar led Trinity Christian with 16 points.

The Flyers will take a short break for final exams next week before heading out to California to take on Concordia (Calif.) and California Baptist next weekend. Lewis play their next seven games away from Neil Carey Arena.

"We need to find a way to be successful on the road so we don't put ourselves in a hole," head coach Lisa Carlsen said.

Lewis is back to .500 on the year improving their record to 4-4. Trinity Christian falls to 3-9.
