Romeoville, Ill. - Sophomore Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) scored a game-high 15 points, all in the second half, as the Lewis University men's basketball team won their third-straight game Saturday (Dec. 12) afternoon with the 61-49 in-region win over Wayne State at Neil Carey Arena.

McClellan was instrumental in an 18-8 run to begin in the second half, as the Flyers extended their four-point halftime lead to 43-29, as the sophomore guard scored 11 points, including a pair of treys, over a 5:38 span.

Lewis improves to 7-2 on the year with the win, while Wayne State falls to 4-3.

Lewis freshman guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) scored 11 points, all in the first half, as he replaced McClellan, who was battling early foul trouble. Junior guard Dennis Thomas (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech) posted 12 points, while sophomore forward Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) nearly missed his first career double-double with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Lewis entered Saturday's game holding their opponents to 39.9% shooting from the field. The Flyers continued their defensive prowess against Wayne State, holding the Warriors to a 30.2% (19-for-63) outing from the floor.

Wayne State center Ike Udanoh led the Warriors with 13 points and nine rebounds, while guard Bryan Wright chipped in 11 points in the loss.

"We maintained our composure well and executed today against a very good team," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "I thought we did a good job defensively and played hard."

The Flyers will be idle for the next 10 days before returning to action on Dec. 22nd, as they welcome Purdue-Calumet to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
